Phoenix Photographer: A Recap of 2024

2024 was a year of growth. My first full year with my business located in Phoenix, Arizona led to a lot of changes - rebuilding my client base, forcing myself to make Instagram reels without rage quitting, second-shooting for (and quickly becoming close friends with) another local photographer, my first actually busy season, and finally quitting my job at a bakery to put my time and energy into my photography full time. There’s definitely been a learning curve, but it’s begun to pay off in big ways that I am forever grateful for.

I also learned the importance of self-reflection, maintaining personal relationships while searching for professional ones, and finding the balance between taking breaks and pushing myself to do more. These are still easy things to struggle with, but I’m slowly accepting that progress is more important than perfection. I guess more than anything, this was the year of learning to be present, grateful, and mindful in the present while also working towards the future. It’s not always an easy balance to find, but it’s something to work towards continually. And I seem to have the most amazing support crew possible helping me.

There were also a lot of happy memories this year: finally road-tripping to the California coast with my boyfriend, traveling back to Flagstaff for a gorgeous pumpkin patch wedding with light sabers, new friends, so many new locations and unique shooting experiences, some super fun styled sessions, a motorcycle session, being among the first to see a new, unreleased Shinedown song performed (acoustic version), working with Making Strides Phoenix to support their fight against breast cancer, a Lord of the Rings universe movie, another Nikon z6ii purchase, more business than I’ve ever had, and so much more.

While I still have so much to learn as a photographer and human, this year has helped me push myself through so many challenges and past obstacles I didn’t even realize were there. It’s been a wild ride, but I’m thankful for every moment, person, and loads of support I was lucky enough to receive along the way.

Here are just a few of my favorite shots from 2024, both personal and professional, in celebration of this past year. Here’s to 2025!
