Getting Creative for your Portrait Photos
Often times, my clients want to know how to add their own flare to their portrait session. I think there’s a sort of assumption that individual portraits have to be formal or stiff-looking, but this is definitely not the case! For example, this client decided to go for an editorial or fashion style portrait session to showcase her love of fun outfits, modeling, and getting creative.
Communicate with Your Photographer
As you can see with this example shoot, there are a lot of different photography styles to work with. We went for an editorial style, which is not my usual style, but was super fun to experiment with once we started bouncing ideas off of each other. We worked together to identify poses and locations that would give this session the vibe we were looking for.
2. Dress for the Occasion
Obviously, your outfit choice will say a lot about the energy of your shoot. Think about your clothes, shoes, and accessories from a style aspect as well as a comfort aspect - if we’re going to be walking around in the middle of the desert all night, you probably don’t want to be wearing white stilettos!
3. Think about Bringing Props
Props are always a super simple way to add feeling or meaning to your photos. Bring a bottle of champagne to pop during grad photos, a onesie to a maternity announcement, or anything else that makes a statement about what makes you, you!
These are just a few of the fun ways to make your photo session more personal. Let’s chat about what this looks like for you! To inquire about a session, please fill out the form linked here and on my contact page.
