Flagstaff Photographer: Why to Book a Photographer in Flagstaff

Flagstaff is one of the most diverse places in Arizona when it comes to scenery. The small town is nestled at the base of the San Francisco Peaks and offers many unique landscapes ranging from mountain views, ponderosa pine forests, and sweeping meadows. The look and feel of these places change greatly with the seasons, offering a ton of options for creating your perfect portrait session.

Many people travel to Flagstaff in the summer to escape the heat and enjoy unique views. Unlike many places in Arizona, Flagstaff’s 7,000 ft. elevation makes for gorgeous summer weather and vegetation. This time of year brings the area lush meadows and sunflowers fields. There is also a fair amount of rain in the summer, making for breathtaking clouds and sunsets.

Flagstaff is one of the few places in Arizona that truly experiences four seasons, and it is always a beautiful site. The leaves and grasses turn incredible shades of orange and yellow in the fall, making autumn my favorite time of year here. This is especially true of the white aspen trees, which populate Northern Arizona and cover the region in golden leaves. Fall colors tend to peak in Flagstaff from late September through mid-October, and the official Leaf-ometer helps predict when and where this will be each year.

Despite being only a two-hour drive north from Phoenix, Flagstaff receives about 100 inches of snow a year, making it one of the most notably snowy cities in the United States. Snowcapped mountains and winter wonderland forests make photos feel like a bundled-up fairytale and are tons of fun (especially for kiddos and furry friends)! Snowfall and winter activities are kept up to date with the city’s Snow-ometer

Spring in Flagstaff brings tons of wildflowers of every color. From mid-March until the end of May, the mountain town is absolutely covered in bright pops of colors, from daisies to daffodils. Photo sessions this time of year have a romantic, airy feel to them that can’t be matched anywhere else in the state.
