Why You Should Hire a Professional Photographer

With the world of advancing technology, it’s becoming all too easy to write off selfies as “good enough” documentation of our lives and memories. Cell phone photos are great, and I’ll be the first to admit that I have a huge quantity of them myself. However, as easy as they are to take, they just can’t stack up to the work of a professional photographer. Here are just a few reasons why:

We’re Professionals for a Reason

I am a photographer because it is my passion. I have years of experience perfecting my craft (as well as a Bachelor’s degree), and I still walk away from each photoshoot having learned something new. The word “photograph” literally translates to “drawing with light” - myself and my fellow photographers have trained ourselves to do just that. We have learned to literally look at the world through a different lens that allows us to see the light, shadows, colors, moments, expressions, and context of a scene differently. We spend many hours editing our images to make them perfectly fit our vision. When you hire a photographer, you’re hiring an artist who takes immense pride in their work. This is a huge reason why your photographer charges what they do!

High Quality Images

Cell phone and point-and-shoot camera quality has increased dramatically over the years. Improvements in camera megapixels and image resolution is incredible. Even still, most images taken on a non-professional grade camera will be less sharp, have lower resolution, and exhibit less dynamic range than a professional setup. They might look great on a small screen but often don’t print or transfer to larger screens well. Additionally, since photographers digitally edit images even after the shoot, there is often a noticeable difference in the overall look of the photos.

Live in the Moment

A photographer’s specialty is capturing real emotions and moments. At a portrait session, I try to photograph interaction between my clients and get unique, storytelling angles. At weddings and events, I blend into the background and capture every moment as beautifully as it truly happened. Basically, you have fun being yourself and l do the rest. Long story short - if you’re taking the photograph on your cell phone, you aren’t truly in the moment OR the photo!

It’s Fun!

Professional photoshoots can be an absolute blast. You can dress up or keep it casual, bring the family or let yourself have the spotlight - regardless, it makes for a fun night out exploring the beautiful scenery of Arizona.

There are so many reasons to book a professional photographer rather than settling for mediocre cell phone photos. Reach out today and let’s make some magic happen!
